Slut Girl is an adult comedy manga published in 1999, written and illustrated by Isutoshi, who went on to produce mainstream titles such as Tende Freeze. It became well known because it concentrated on its characters and on humour rather than on the shock content common in adult manga of the time. The manga was published in six volumes, and paperback collections of all six are available both in Japan and in the United States, where it was licensed by Eros Comix. The collected edition of all six volumes was released in the United States on March 5th 2005, ISBN 1560976764.
Sayoko Bizen - The title character, a bank employee who loses her job just before she can carry out her plan to rob the bank. She then uses her relationship with Satoru to fund a new get-rich-quick scheme, and when it succeeds she leaves, promising to return to him one day.
Satoru Ichi - A young man who meets Sayoko by chance and is drawn into her scheme, and who is left waiting for her return at the end of the story.
Slut Girl Alpha is an additional chapter that gives an ending to a story the six volumes left open, and brings back several of its characters. It has never been licensed in English, although fan translations have circulated since November 2004. No other continuations of the series have been made.
Slut Girl was unusual for its genre in giving its story a plot, developing its characters and adding humour, and it did all three well. Its art style also stood apart, avoiding the exaggerated proportions that were common in adult manga at the time.
After Slut Girl, Isutoshi stopped producing adult manga and moved on to mainstream work such as Tende Freeze. Little has appeared from him since around 2004, and his Japanese website has not been updated since then. Readers who enjoyed Slut Girl's humour and characters may also enjoy Tende Freeze.
